the great Luke Ski
At Dragon*Con 2004, Dr. Demento declared "the great Luke Ski" to be his radio program’s "Most Requested Artist of the 21st Century". Since then, Luke has held onto that title by having a song within the top five of "The Dr. Demento Show’s" year-end "Funny 25″ countdown of his most requested songs of the year for five years in a row. His song parodies, originals, stand-up and sketches about pop culture phenomena have make him a favorite performer at science-fiction and fandom conventions all across the midwest and beyond.

Benefit Auction Benefiting Four Oaks in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, IA
Once again, ICON will be holding an (almost) No-Minimum Bid Benefit Auction during the Art Auction at 5:30 pm on Saturday. (The minimum bid is actually one dollar.)
All of the donated items will be sold to benefit Four Oaks in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, IA. Four Oaks is one of the largest not-for-profit, child welfare / juvenile justice agencies in Iowa, serving over 7000 people annually throughout the state. Four Oaks services are focused on, and rooted in, the family. They empower children and families to achieve stability, self sufficiency and permanency. Items that are being auction can be viewed as you walk into the ICON 32 Art Show (Oakdale 1.) All of the items from Art in an Hour will be added to the auction table around 3pm on Saturday. ICON would like to thank all that donate items to the benefit auction and all who purchase items from the benefit auction. A strong show of support at the auction helps to show ICON's community spirit of caring and concern towards supporting families throughout Iowa.

Hotel Parking - how to make the most of it
The parking areas by the hotel are owned by the city of Coralville. Charges are $0.75 per hour with a maximum of $8.00 per day. The hotel front desk can sell you a pass to allow in and out privileges to be sure you don't end up paying more than $8.00 per day regardless of how much you go in and out. You can get this whether you are staying in a room at the hotel, or not.
If you get an $8.00 pass from the hotel at 5:00pm on Friday, this pass is good through 5:00pm on Saturday, so you will not need to pay for three days parking in order to attend all three days of the convention.
Please do not park at the museum to try to avoid the parking charges, they WILL tow. You'll need to find someplace a little further afield to fully avoid the parking fee. You can also try some carpooling to lower these costs.
