Writers’ Workshop – 9am

This workshop is limited to those who pre-registered. Participating writers have received a package containing all submitted manuscripts two weeks before the convention. The participants should read, ponder and type up a critique of each manuscript received. This critique will be shared with the manuscript writer. Bring your critiques with you to the workshop and be prepared for an amazing time of learning. Led by Mickey Zucker Reichert.

The Small Press in the Big Woods – 11am

Come talk about the role of the small press in SF/fantasy fiction. What do small presses bring to the table? Are they the mad laboratories of the fantastic or the hothouse gardens nurturing the next wave of SF/fantasy? Mary Wilson (owner/publisher Jupiter Gardens Press), and Tyree Campbell (publisher Sam’s Dot Publishing) will lead discussion. Modern gaming (video, RPGs, LARPs, CCGs, and virtually every other genre) started out as heavily male-dominated, and the gender ratios (and stereotypes) are still skewed. What have you noticed about others' perceptions of you as a woman and a gamer, both good and bad? How has gaming shaped you, and vice versa? What brings women to gaming, what scares them off, and how can we change that? Gamer girls, chicks, babes, and women (and allies) are welcome to a freewheeling discussion on topics philosophical and pragmatic. Discussion led by game-loving women.
